2002: Reception of the final transmission from Pioneer 10, concluding thirty years of scientific breakthroughs. After clearing the path to Jupiter in 1972, the probe officially leaves the human sphere of influence to become an interstellar artefact. Its trajectory is carrying it towards the constellation of Taurus, where it will reach the vicinity of Aldebaran in two million years. It remains the first human object to carry a map of our galactic position engraved in metal.
