1929: Death of Georges Lecointe, Director of the Observatory. He passed away a few years after stepping down from the leadership of the Royal Observatory of Belgium in 1925 due to ill health. During his directorship (1900–1925), he modernised the Observatory by establishing, among others, the services for seismology, time, and terrestrial magnetism, which turned Uccle into a point of international reference.
