1935: Astronomer Eugène Delporte discovers the asteroid (1926) Demiddelaer from the Royal Observatory of Belgium in Uccle. Initially designated by the provisional name 1935 JA, this main-belt object was named in honour of Mireille Demiddelaer, the granddaughter of the discoverer. This practice, common among the great discoverers of Uccle, allowed Belgian names to be immortalised among the stars while enriching the catalogue of small bodies in the solar system.
