1925: Georges Lecointe officially retires and steps down as Director of the Royal Observatory of Belgium. After 25 years at the helm of the institution, the man who served as the second-in-command of the Belgica leaves behind an immense legacy: he transformed Uccle into a world-class centre of excellence for time measurement, seismology, and the study of terrestrial magnetism.
