In 1646 John Flamsteed, an English astronomer was born. He was the founder and first director of the Greenwich Observatory. He introduced also the Bayer-system for names of stars. His wife published his star-catalogue posthumously.

On 19 august 2024 the JUICE (JUpiter ICy Moons Explorer) space probe performed a flyby of the Moon.
