1918: Introduction of the Gregorian calendar in Russia by decree of the Council of People's Commissars, effective from 14 February (new style). This happened shortly after the October Revolution of 1917, which is why the anniversary is celebrated today on 7 November.


1933: Eugène Delporte discovers asteroid 1276 and names it "Ucclia", after the municipality of Uccle where the Royal Observatory of Belgium is located.
