2006: Three independent observing campaigns announce the discovery of OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb via gravitational microlensing - the first cold, rocky and icy exoplanet orbiting a main-sequence star. This planet is also nicknamed Hoth by NASA in reference to the ice planet in Star Wars.
