1912: Birth of Marcel Nicolet, Belgian physicist and meteorologist specialized in solar ultraviolet radiation and stratospheric chemistry, who played an essential role at the birth of space aeronomy. Marcel Nicolet was the founder of the Royal Belgian Institute of Space Aeronomy in 1964.
