1915: Photographic plates capture the future dwarf planet without anyone noticing, illustrating the difficulty of tracking distant objects in the solar system. It would not be until 1930 that it was officially identified by Clyde Tombaugh and named Pluto on 1 May of that year.

2008: Observation of GRB 080319B, a cosmic gamma-ray burst that was temporarily visible to the naked eye.
